Poll finds 90% of Native Americans are OK with Washington 'Redskins' name

A poll published by the Washington Post found that nine out of ten Native Americans take no offense with the cities' football team. The poll also found that opinions among Native Americans towards the team's name were consistent regardless of factors such as age, income and level of education. Surveying 504 people across the nation who identified as Native American, the newest poll reflects one taken a couple years ago. In 2014, ESPN ran a similar poll in which 23-percent of those polled took offense with the name. Washington's NFL team, the Redskins, have faced publicized pressure lately for their name and which some consider disrespectful. But the team's owner, Dan Snyder, has long resisted calls to change their name.
